What Is an Olfactive Tone Direction?
Olfactive Tone Direction describes the overall scent direction of your perfume formula, not the smell of the musk itself.
In this system, you select the direction of the formula you are building, and the tool suggests structural musks that tend to work well within that type of composition.
You may choose a single direction for a focused formula, or combine two to three directions when your composition has a broader olfactive profile.
Understanding Dosage Roles
Dosage ranges in this system describe the functional role of a material within a formula, not simply how strong it smells.
- Accent Range = use to add nuance or character without becoming part of the main structure.
- Structure Range = use when the musk functions as part of the main structural body of the formula.
- Dominance Range = use when the musk's character becomes clearly noticeable and structurally influential.

All percentages shown in this system refer to the percentage used within the concentrate or perfume formula before dilution with alcohol.
Fixative Interpretation Note
This system does not directly state longevity performance. Different musks do not behave equally as fixatives, and their effect depends on many other materials in the formula. A higher range may make the musk itself more noticeable, but it does not guarantee a 100% increase in lasting power.
